Martha Rodríguez-Salazar has a multi-faceted musical career as a flutist, mezzo-soprano, conductor, educator, producer, and curator with special dedication to community arts.

 
 

Martha was born and raised in Mexico City, where she earned her bachelor’s degree at the National School of Music. In 1998, she came to the United States to pursue an MFA in Music Performance at Oakland’s Mills College as a concert flutist and opera singer. Since graduating in 2000, Martha has been a passionate promoter of Hispanic Ibero-American folk, classical and contemporary music in the San Francisco Bay Area.

For her outstanding leadership in promoting and developing Mexican music and culture in the Bay Area, she was recognized as a "Luminary" in 2011 by the Mexican Consulate in SF and as "Excelencia Latina" by LAM and Mundo Fox in 2013. In 2017 she was awarded the “Corazón del Barrio” Award for her excellence in music.
